Lion Devouring the Sun /// Handmade Linocut

' Lion devouring the Sun ' is an alchemic symbol. Its meaning can't be summed up simply, and as a metaphor it can be interpreted in many ways. A green lion is "vitriol" purifying "matter", the sun, into gold. The lion can also be "gold", or "the sun", and radiance of the sun would be "purity". In the end, it can also be seen as the purification of a person, leaving only its "golden" parts to remain.

. Limited edition of 9 on art printing paper, Clairefontaine Fleur de Coton 250g, and 9 on Clairefontaine Simili Japon paper 130g, for a total of 18 pieces. The displayed piece is Fleur de Coton 250g

. Due to the handmade, crafted technique, each print is unique, and there is a lot of variations, ink smudges, imperfections, gritty textures, from a print to another. I don't have a press yet, so some prints will be black, and others grittier. You can check my instagram for more photos. Please note that the prints will have imperfections, as little smudges, ink marks... It is part of the beauty of the ink, and the craft.
